Marquam Hill is a neighborhood located on a hill just south of downtown Portland, also nicknamed "Pill Hill" due to being home to Oregon Health and Science University, Portland VA Hospital and Portland Shriners Hospital. Marquam Hill is full of tons of unique character attracting visitors and residents alike. The residents are mostly made up of professionals that are some sort of executive or manager; which makes sense due to the expensive costs of living. Students that reside in Marquam Hill can give their parents peace of mind due to the low crime rate. Conveniently, downtown Portland is only a quick tram ride downhill from Marquam Hill providing residents with a beautiful suburban community and the nearness of the city and the amenities that come with it.
The Marquam Nature Park encourages residents and visitors to get out and explore with paved paths and hiking trails. The Marquam Trail is part of the 40-miles loop system that starts at Willamette Park, passes over Council Crest and connects with Wildwood Trail in Washington Park. While enjoying the trails, hikers will find a variety of trees such as; Douglas fir, red cedar and bigleaf maples and an abundance of native plant species to study.

The Portland Public School District serves the Marquam Hill community with public education. According to GreatSchools.org, Ainsworth Elementary School and West Sylvan Middle School both received a 9/10 rating, Lincoln High School received an 8/10 rating and The Cottonwood School of Civics and Science and Gray Middle School received a rating of 7/10. This community is lucky to have some excellent school options, plus a perk to being in the Portland Public School District, if the school assigned to the resident is not where you want your student to attend, you can request to attend a different school within the district as long as there is room at the school.
