More About Council Crest
Living in Council Crest
Council Crest sits at the highest point of West Hills on the Tualatin Mountains at 1071 feet above sea level. The winding roads and forest views are wonderful by themselves; however being so high up the beauty does not stop there. The views vary a little but, at different points the views can include not just forest and valleys but, Mt. Hood, Mt. St. Helens, Mt Adams and Mt Rainier, even the Willamette River and the city of Downtown Portland below. Some homes even are lucky enough to have a stunning view in every direction,a 365 panoramic view. The center of the Southwest Trails system is in Council Crest, which leads to surrounding neighborhoods through trails throughout the hills.
Public transportation in Council Crest is limited to a bus line that follows the same route as the now retired streetcar line. Biking and walking are options and even with the steep hills that these roads are home to, there are some sidewalks. The street layout in this area is like a labyrinth making routes very confusing for the non-resident, therefore discouraging most from visiting the area. This probably helps contribute to the low crime rate in this neighborhood.
Schools in Council Crest
The Council Crest neighborhood is served by the Portland Public School District and the residents are lucky to have some of the best schools in Portland. Ainsworth Elementary School and West Sylvan Middle School both were given an esteemed rating of 9/10 from Greatschools.org and Lincoln High School is not far behind with an 8/10 rating.
