Forest Heights is an upscale neighborhood west of downtown Portland. Some of these most premier Portland homes enjoy the view of the The Tualatin Valley and the private park, Mill Pond, which was the original mill pond for the Jones Lumber Mill.
Forest Heights occupies 601 acres and consists of approximately 1126 single-family home lots, 676 townhome and condominium units, 160 apartments and a small retail center. The Forest Heights Homeowners Association manages 215 acres of common area, including 6 miles of trails, a park and a playground; provides extensive landscaping; and maintains 11 entrance monuments.
All owners of a residential lot or a condominium/townhome (referred to as sub-associations) within the Forest Heights HOA property boundaries pay the Forest Heights HOA Semi-Annual Assessment which provides many services to the community.
Things to Do in Forest Heights
Among many parks and shopping, there are a plethora of things to do, see and explore in this popular Portland and West Hills neighborhood. Mill Pond Park and Forest Heights Park are the two main parks in Forest Heights.
Mill Pond Park has been considered the "living room of Forest Heights" with over 8 acres, lots of green space, playground facilities, barbecue and picnic areas, restrooms, and an amphitheater of perfect for summer concerts. With paved walking paths and fitness stations, a beautiful pond and of course the native vegetation and wildlife, Mill Pond Park is a popular place for many Forest Heights residents.
Forest Heights Park is another popular location within this community featuring playgrounds, a plaza, and multiple paths. It's located at 2999 NW. Miller Rd. for the main park entrance. This nearly 3-acre park was built in 1995 and has become a popular neighborhood park.
The Forest Heights Village is where most residents do their shopping as there's a Fred Meyer, markets, shops, banks, salons, clinics, and a few restaurants. Residents are no more than about 10 to 15 minutes from downtown Portland yet miles away from the hustle and bustle of the big city. This popular location is one of West Hills Premier neighborhoods. Living in Forest Heights
In the West hills of Portland is an upscale planned community, Forest Heights. The design of this community was well planned to provide plenty of green space; in fact 1/3 of the neighborhood is designated green space that includes walking trails, recreation area and common spaces. The Forest Heights neighborhood consists of mostly residential areas with single family homes and luxury townhomes; however a shopping complex was added back in 2005. The shopping complex offers restaurants, grocery shopping and other stores.
Forest Heights does have an active homeowners association that ensures the habitats, trails and overall appearance of both the common spaces and the homes in the neighborhood. A huge bonus residents have living in Forest Heights, they offer a shuttle service that run to the Sunset Transit Center. Unfortunately, the neighborhood is not considered very walkable as most restaurants and shopping are a 10-15 minute drive and there is not a bus line that services Forest Heights either.
Schools in Forest Heights
The Forest Heights neighborhood is served by the Portland Public School District. Part of the attraction to the Forest Heights neighborhood are the amazing schools that serve the residents of this neighborhood. West Sylvan Middle School and Forest Heights Elementary School were both given a 9/10 rating and Lincoln High School was rated an 8/10 according to Greatschools.org.

Most of the homes in Forest Ridge are newer single family homes and luxury townhouses. The views in Forest Ridge are absolutely amazing. The homes are competitive and reasonably priced for the area and with all the conveniences the neighborhood has to offer or can be found nearby is definitely worth the price.
