Some residents along the Alameda ridge can lay claim to enviable sweeping views of downtown, the Willamette river and the Cascades mountains. Alameda is a gorgeous neighborhood with quiet, tree-lined streets and some gorgeous homes, many on larger lots. Alameda overlaps on one side with Irvington, also an older historical neighborhood with grand homes.
This neighborhood is popular for biking and strolling in as the streets do not get heavy traffic. There are hidden stairways along the ridge which helps pedestrians to navigate the ridge to get to the Irvington neighborhood below.

Living in Alameda
Alameda is located in northeast Portland and is often referred to as the "warm heart" because of its central location among surrounding neighborhoods and because of the friendly residents. Quiet tree-lined streets and stunning homes on large lots in this gorgeous neighborhood are a big attraction to this area. Approximately 85% of Alameda residents live within a half a mile of one of three area parks; Wilshire Park, Grant Park and Irving Park. Alameda sits on Alameda Ridge offering stunning views of both Portland and the West Hills. In Alameda, there are plenty of parks, shops, restaurants, brewpubs and coffee shops to enjoy. As an added bonus, a quick 15 minute drive drive will take you to downtown Portland.
One of the best and very common ways for travel around Alameda is biking, trails are available in most areas to allow safe access to commute by bicycling. Although the majority of Alameda residents choose to travel by private car, other options are still within reach. Alameda has public transportation available through bus service to assist people wanting to get around Alameda and other area cities.

Alameda is served by the Portland Public School District offering excellent educational opportunities. According to Greatschools.org, Grant High School was given an outstanding 9/10 rating, Alameda Elementary School was given an 8/10 rating, Beverly Cleary School and Sabin Elementary School were rated 6/10 and Beaumont Middle School and Irvington Elementary School were rated a 3/10. Alameda students are lucky to have some of the best schools in the Portland Public School District offered to them to meet their education needs.
