The Tanner Basin neighborhood is also known as Savanna Oaks. Tanner Basin lies atop a ridge that overlooks the Willamette and Tualatin Rivers. The topography of the neighborhood ranges from flat to very steep slopes. Elevations on top of the ridge average 550 feet. Salamo Creek runs through the western portions of the neighborhood.
Cascade Summit, a shopping and commercial center, is located on the northern border of the neighborhood. Salamo Road provides access to residential areas in West Linn from I-205.
Public schools in West Linn are part of the high- performing West Linn-Wilsonville School District. There are no public school facilities located in the Tanner Basin neighborhood. West Linn’s City Hall is located in the Tanner Basin neighborhood.No parks currently exist in the Tanner Basin neighborhood, however, there are walking trails with some connectivity and pockets of undeveloped land is to be designated as permanent open space, ponds and a wildlife area.
A stretch of rare White Oak Savanna along I-205 in West Linn is now in good hands. The property is one of the few remaining expanses in the Willamette Valley – with some oaks estimated to be older than 400 years. Through a partnership 14 acres of the 20 acre site, with hopes to purchase the remaining 6 acres soon, has been successfully protected. Future plans for this parkland include pathways and trails for easy access and benches from key viewpoints.
