    North Plains, a charming rural town located in Washington County,19 miles west of Portland, is surrounded by farmland, creeks and forests near the foothills of the Coastal range. It is just five mile from Portland’s ‘Silcon Forest’ the high tech Sunset Corridor.

    Residents and many visitors from around the state come to enjoy the annual civic event, The Garlic Festival. Giant garlic, also known as “Elephant Garlic,” is grown right in North Plains. The miles of country roads that meander through and around North Plains and the surrounding farms and nurseries attract cyclists. Hornings Hideout is a 25 acre recreational area in the 120 acres of timberland of serene Brunswick Canyon.  It has a nice size lake for fishing and paddle boating. There are several elaborate play structures for kids on both sides of the lake, as well as horseshoe pits, picnic and camping facilities.
