Located in Washington County about 15 minutes from downtown Portland, Beaverton is home to the headquarters of many large corporations, including Nike and Tektronics. Intel also has multiple campuses in the neighboring area of Hillsboro, making Beaverton a convenient place close to many employers and downtown Portland.

Hwy 217 runs through Beaverton while Hwy 26 provides the main route to downtown Portland, about 15 minutes away. Beaverton is also well served by bus, the WES commuter rail and the MAX light rail.

Beaverton has a very diverse population with one in three of its residents being a person of color and around 20% of the population born outside of the United States, Beaverton is definitely rich in diverse culture. The downtown area of Beaverton is lined with turn of the century landmarks and unique shops. 

For the nature seeker, Beaverton is an excellent place to live with over 100 parks, there is a park within a half of a mile of every home. Several hiking trails and bike routes are available for everyone to enjoy. On top of the parks and what they have to offer, residents can go east to the ski slopes or west to the beaches, the best of both worlds. 

Beaverton strives to bring their community together with outdoor plays, concerts, festivals and celebrations. Annual events such as the Winter Lights, Restaurant Week, Night Market, Trivia Night, Volunteer Fair and many more are planned to promote community togetherness. 

Home styles in Beaverton range from new Northwest craftsman houses to mid-century modern ranch homes. Beaverton residents also enjoy close proximity to Cedar Hills Crossing—a shopping center with a New Seasons Market, WinCo Foods, Powell’s Books and a large multiplex theater. The Tualatin Hills Parks and Recreation District serves Washington County residents with more than 200 parks as well as six recreation centers and swim centers.

Beaverton Schools

Beaverton School District provides public education to the residents of Beaverton, Mountainside High School and School of Science and Technology were given an astonishing 10/10 rating from Greatschools.org and International School of Beaverton-High is close behind it with an 8/10 rating. Beaverton also offers more specialized schools such as Health & Science and Arts & Communication to hone in on certain subjects. There are also charter schools in the area, both Hope Chinese Charter School and Arco Iris Immersion School were given a 9/10 rating by Greatschools.org. Schools in Beaverton range in quality, some are not rated very high at all, while others are given perfect scores, it is definitely important to evaluate each area to determine if the schools are a right fit for your family. 

Beaverton Neighborhoods

The outer neighborhoods of Beaverton tend to still have the most affordable homes, this is likely due to the traffic as there are only a few main routes to Portland. Most Beaverton neighborhoods you will find have a surplus of available trails, there are definitely options. Beaverton is considered to have a decent number of walkable neighborhoods. While there are some areas of Beaverton that are still getting a much needed makeover, there are some areas like Copper Mountain that have newer high end developments.
